2008 GENERAL RULES                                         NO CASH REFUNDS

These rules and/or regulations as set forth herein are designed to provide the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements of such events.  These rules shall govern the conditions of the Morgan County Speedway events and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules.  No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publications of or compliance with these rules and/or regulations.  They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and in no way is a guarantee against injury or death to participants, spectators or others.

Race night times (Friday night regular weekly program):

Pit gate opens:  4:00 pm
Pill draw closes:  6:15 pm
Hot laps:   6:00 pm
Racing:  6:45 pm

Checks will no longer be accepted unless you have received approval from the Promoter PRIOR TO RACE NIGHT. Credit cards are now accepted at the front gate as well as the pit gate.  If any check is returned by your bank you will be charged a $25.00 fee plus the check amount. This must be paid before you will be allowed to race.

Registration: All drivers must fill out a racer registration form yearly.  You will not be paid without having first filled out the racer registration form for tax purposes.  If you do not fill out the requested information your payout will be held until it is completed and turned in.

Rain:  In the event of rain, if one half of the race program has been completed, this will be ruled as a complete race and paid accordingly.  If the race can not be completed, a rain date will be set.

Injuries: Any injury must be reported, on the same date, to the speedway office prior to leaving the racetrack.  An accident form must be completed and reported to the Speedway’s insurance carrier.

No driver, car owner or crew member shall have any claim for damages, expenses or otherwise against the promoter, speedway officials or Morgan County Speedway for damage to the car, driver or both.  Driver agrees that track is in a safe racing condition once that driver has participated in any racing activities.   Promoter has the right to refuse to accept entry of any car or driver. 

 

Pit area:

All persons entering the pit area must sign the insurance release form. Your armband must be visible at all times. If you leave the pit area you must have the armband to get back in for free. Your signature is not acceptable proof, the armband is considered the
only receipt you will have. Anyone caught cheating on a pit pass will face a $100.00 fine before they may return to the Morgan County Speedway.  If we know that you are connected with a certain car, we may disqualify that car as well.  There is a 5 mph speed limit in the pit area.  ATV’s and 4 wheelers are allowed in the pit area and must follow the 5 mph speed limit.  Safety is the main concern in the pits and unsafe behavior or driving by anyone in the pit area will not be tolerated.  Personal vehicles are not allowed in the pits and are not covered by speedway insurance.

Appearance:

1)      A number for your car must be agreed upon at registration.  Numbers will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.
2)      Car numbers must be a minimum of 18” high and 3” wide on each door and the roof facing the driver’s side.

Pill Draw:

1)      Driver or crew member will be allowed to draw a pill.
2)      Switching cars after the pill draw will result in moving to the rear of that cars designated heat race. 
3)      If the driver switches cars after the heats, driver takes back-up car to the rear of the next race they are scheduled to compete in.
4)      Director of competition must be notified of all changes prior to their race.  Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
5)      Anyone signing in after the pill draw close will start at the rear of the heat.
6)      Pill draw will determine start position of the heat. Low draw number starts on the front of the heat.

Track Packing:

ALL CLASSES WILL BE REQUIRED TO PACK THE TRACK! If you do not help pack the track, you will not be allowed to hot lap. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Staging:

All drivers are required to know when their race is up.  All cars must be in staging before their race leaves the staging area.   Failure to do so will result in disqualification from that race.  The line-ups are posted at the Pit Concession StandIt is your responsibility to check the board for your races.

Rough Driving:

1)      If you make contact with another car that is spinning out, you will go to the tail.
2)      If you intentionally spin another driver out you will be black flagged for that race.

Starts and Restarts:

1)      Original starts will be double file with pole sitter setting the pace.  You must be side to side and nose to tail. You will be given 3 chances to get this done, if not, the race will restart single file.  Original starts will be off of turn 4 at the white line. 
2)      Anyone involved in a first lap accident, spin, or if you stop on the track for any reason, you will restart on the tail.
3)      Restarts after a yellow or red flag will be nose to tail and single file only.
4)      Lapped cars will remain in their running order.
5)      Jumping on restarts, you will be sent to the tail.

Yellow Flags:

1)      If you bring out the yellow flag, you will go to the tail.  If you are involved in the Yellow you will go to the tail.  If you make contact in an accident and stop on the track, you will go to the tail.  If you spin or stop to avoid an accident you will get your spot back, as long as you did not bring out the yellow.
2)      Stopping to avoid an accident, without making contact, you will get your position back.
3)      Any car causing an intentional yellow will be black flagged for that race.

2-Spin Rule:

1)      There will be a 2 spin rule in effect for all races.  This meaning if you were charged with 2 yellow flag situations you will be black flagged for that race.
2)      Only the car or cars that caused the yellow will be charged with the yellow.

Hot Pits:

1)      There will be an open Hot Pit area located in the infield. This area will only be open during the feature events.  1 crew member only must remain in this designated area.
2)      If you have to use the Hot Pit area you will have to be ready to go by the time the line-ups are done and the yellow light has been turned off.  You will not be allowed to re-enter the track under the green.  If you do re-enter during the green, you will be black flagged.
3)      There will be no courtesy laps given.
4)      No one will be allowed to cross the racetrack
5)      No crew member will be allowed on the racetrack at any time during any events or during yellow or red flag situations.

Scaling:

The following cars must weigh:
Heat race- Winner only
Dash- Winner only
Consi’s- Winner only
Feature- Top 5

 

Disciplinary Action will be given for:

1)      Anyone who argues or is a trouble maker.
2)      Driver getting out of his car on the track to argue.
3)      Driver bumping, fighting after the race or giving anyone the finger.
4)      We will not tolerate any abusive behavior towards any of our officials or track employees.  We will strictly enforce this policy and will suspend anyone not following these rules.
5)      Absolutely no alcohol will be consumed by any driver or pit crew prior to the races. 
6)      Alcohol is not allowed in the pit area.
7)      No illegal drugs are allowed at any time.

 

Note:  Our curfew is 11:00 pm SHARP.. Heat races will be limited to 8 laps or 8 minutes. Semis will be limited to 10 laps or 10 minutes.  We do all that we can to avoid cutting laps but we cannot exceed our curfew.  At time laps may be cut short due to inclement weather that may prevent us from getting in the full show. Lengthy and numerous cautions and yellows that are always unforeseen may also cause a reduction in laps, this will be done at the Track Promoter’s discretion.  We will do everything that we can to prevent this from happening but at times it cannot be avoided.
